Camping

Brad got a new tent for his birthday so since we have been experiencing warmer temperatures than usual we decided to head out to Ayres Natural Bridge for a quick camping trip. It was beautiful and Maven did awesome. I think he actually liked it. It was one of his best nights.

AYRES NATURAL BRIDGE
This is the only natural bridge that has water running under it.

I had to sneak this picture in. Maven hates to be swaddled he will kick himself out of any blanket I put him in and then his hands and feet are always cold. I'm afraid he's going to be stubborn just like his mom and dad.

And since everything we do now revolves around Maven and we have family requesting pictures here are a few of Maven's 1 month pictures. I can't believe he is already a month old.

And we have internet...

You would think I'd have more to catch up on but as exciting as our lives have been the last three weeks they sound kind of dull. It goes something like this. Brad goes to rotations everyday. He just finished cardiology and nephrology and is now doing surgery. As for me, I am thoroughly enjoying my time home from work being with Maven all day. We are pretty chill. He eats which usually puts him to sleep for a little while we try to play while he's awake and alert. There isn't much you can do with a newborn so usually I just ooh and awe at him. We change several diapers, go for walks and enjoy company. We have had both sets of grandparents here to visit.

So in place of a boring post here are some pictures.

Joey holding her new cousin Maven

Maven testing out the belly pack at Glenrock.
(he's not quite ready for it)
First Bath...He's not so sure about it.
And maybe it's not all that bad.

THE WAITING GAME

This baby could come any time now. His expected date of delivery is September 3, only 12 days away. So now is the time to make your guess.

My dad thinks tomorrow August 23. (I kind of wish he was right but there isn't a chance this kid is coming tomorrow.)

Brad's guess is Thursday September 2... Mine is Sunday September 5 (although I wont be too surprised if I go back to work after labor day weekend.)

Mary's guess is Wednesday September 1.

And while we are in the spirit of passing time and getting opinions you can all cast your vote for a name.

Disclaimer: The name poll is just for fun. While we value all your opinions we know that we will probably name him something different anyway and my dad will call him GUS no matter what.

Names in the running:

Augustus aka GUS: GREAT OR MAGNIFICENT

Gage: 1- something, as a glove, thrown down by a medieval knight in token of challenge to combat.
2- Archaic. a challenge

Maven: a trusted expert in a particular field, who seeks to pass knowledge on to others. The word maven comes from the Hebrew, via Yiddish, and means one who understands, based on an accumulation of knowledge.

Please refer to the right hand column of this blog and cast your vote for a name. And to make a guess for his grand arrival please leave a comment.

False Alarm

Apparently Brad called 911. He was out in the parking lot loading our bikes so we could go for a ride when a cop came. He asked Brad if he had dialed 911. In shock Brad reached for his phone only to find a missed call from dispatch calling him back to see if he had dialed 911.

Supposedly this happens quite often. I was shocked that they were able to locate Brad from his cell phone signal. I didn't think Casper WY had technology like that.

Slip-n-Slide

Brad and I were lucky enough to go home for an entire week. We spent time in Banida with the Geddes clan and Bear Lake with the Oliverson's Bear Lake Pictures coming soon.

While in Banida we had a little fun with the slip and slide.

Leslie and Brad were neck to neck for distance.
Brad won when he ran out of grass and was the first to the field.
I'm sure the competition would have continued if we had more room.

I'm still surprised that everyone seemed to be more worried about me than...

my 85 year old grandpa.

And of course we had to have a few water fights.

I'm not sure who won?

Looks like the veins are going to pop out of my dad's head

Don't worry the kids had a blast too!
