Brad's gone until Christmas!!! BOOOO :( I hate having him gone especially since things out in West Virginia haven't been going so smooth. Besides his computer that broke the day before he left, his housing that fell through the day he got there, and his lame hotel key that wont work I think he's surviving.
Maven hates having him gone. At about 5 in the evening he starts to get really grumpy and search all the rooms in the house when dad is nowhere to be found he just pouts around. He's teething so that hasn't helped either.
As for me I'm just trying to stay busy so the time will go fast. I'm working on doing more photography and design. It's been a lot of fun. I'm slowly getting my photography blog going and everything else I need.
And I've been able to photograph some of the cutest kids and families. These are my favorites so far this month.

Check the Garbage
Latley Maven has been really good at hidding things including himself. He has an obsession with phones and anywhere we go he knows exactlly where to find the phones. He gets one or even two phones in hand and starts walking around and talking on the phone. He even laughs during his phone conversation. Then when he's done he throws the phone away. That's right he's done with it so it's going in the garbage.
He also throws his toys away. Don't forget to check the garbage before you take it out. Who knows what we've sent to the dump.
This morning I caught him with my wallet. How he got it I'm not quite sure because I make a point to keep it out of his reach. But it was too late everything was gone including my debit cards, credit cards and drivers license. We searched high and low they are nowhere to be found. Today is garbage day so lets just hope they didn't make it all the way out to the garbage truck.
Things don't always end up in the garbage. From time to time he just hides them really well. Yesterday we were stranded at my grandparents because he hid the keys. He's also good at hiding himself. I've found him in closets and cupboards. He's way too quiet about it.

Photography
I finally decided to start a Photography Business thanks to the help from lots of friends and family. So to give it a kick start we are doing a give away.
Go to my new blog CharlsieLynPhotography.blogspot.com for details.
Even if you don't live in Cache Valley don't feel like you can't enter. Most of you know someone from Cache Valley so if you win you can give your prize away.

Hualapai
It started out really hot here in Kingman so when we needed a break from the heat we would take a little drive up to Hualapai mountain and hike around. It's at least 20 degrees cooler up there. I love hiking and will go anytime I get a chance. I think Brad enjoys it as well but Maven finds it more relaxing than the two of us combined. The first night we hiked we got a late start so the last mile or two of the hike was in the dark thank goodness we had a full moon.

ROUTE 66
It's amazing the hidden treasures we have found in these small, strange towns we end up in. Turns out the famous Route 66 happens to go through Kingman AZ and if you follow it you'll see a whole lot of desert and cacti. It's a spot that is so hot and dry weeds don't even grow. As you wind through the mountains on this old disintegrating road you'll see a lot of strange things. It's a surprisingly beautiful drive considering how dry and dead everything is. The road is extremely narrow and very steep, just a little scary. If you are afraid of heights you may want to keep your eyes upward and ignore the steep edge and lack of guardrails. As you continue down this famous Route 66 that must have inspired the movie cars you'll find yourself in the almost non existent town of Oatman AZ known for their Wild Asses.

We loved Route 66 and Oatman AZ so if you ever happen to find yourself near Kingman AZ it's definitely worth checking out.

VEGAS
Brad picked us up at the Las Vegas airport on Friday Aug. 26 and instead of driving straight back to Kingman we enjoyed a weekend in Vegas. Neither Brad or I had ever been there and to tell you the truth it was a little overwhelming but fun.
Maven's favorite thing was the pool. It was the perfect depth for him.
And Brad loved the fountains at the Bellagio. We went to the first showing at noon but forgot the camera so Brad made us go back for a night show. It was worth it.

It was a fun weekend and a much needed vacation. So now that we are in Kingman we are looking for whatever we can find to get us out of the hotel and boy has that been an adventure.
