Oregon

I have tonz of catching up to do on this blog. It's been so long since I've posted everything on blogger has changed.  How do I sum up the last few months of craziness???  March, April and May I was pretty much swamped with photography. Brad was finishing his last rotations of medical school and Maven was being his usual trouble making self.  We were able to go on a few vacations that I'll have to post more about later when I finish uploading pictures to go with the posts.

We moved to Corvallis OR on June 4 and by June 6 we were on the coast checking out all the sights before my parents had to head back to Idaho.

It was freezing cold but that didn't stop us from playing in the water and enjoying every second of it.

365 Project | February

Well I kind of feel like a failure with my 365 project. So I'll just do a month in review. Taking the pictures and downloading them is one thing but sometimes it takes me a while to post. Twenty-nine pictures is a lot so I'll just post some favorites.

A lot has happened this month, the snow has been CRAPPY so I don't have as many cool ski pictures as I would like. We survived the match and we are now able to plan our move to Corvallis, Oregon. I've been super busy with photography, which I'm LOVING, Maven has been a major trouble maker but is so much fun right now. He is learning new things like crazy. Overall we are just enjoying our time in Cache Valley.

Those black marks on Maven's lips happen to be Sharpie marker which was also on the TV, a little wooden chair, and on select toys. We still have no clue where he found the Sharpie considering just two days earlier Brad was unable to find one when he needed it.

These next pictures are of my nieces and nephews. I still had some backdrops up when they came over. They were curious about everything so we had test things out.

And this is Maven after trying some lemon juice.

So there is February for you...I would like to say I'll do better but I don't want to set anyone up for disappointment.

FEB 365 PROJECT FAIL

Wow I am so far behind posting pics of my 365 project I don't even want to try and upload 30+ pics onto blogger so here are a few and I might pick out some other highlights over the next few days.

It hasn't been the best year for snow but we've managed to hike to some pretty good powder.

Here is Maven all innocent and sweet looking...I'll be posting pictures of his more destructive side soon.
OH and FYI we are moving to Corvallis Oregon in June. :) I'm super excited.

The Match

I guess I owe everyone an explanation. At least those who have no idea how this medical school thing works. For the last 6 months we haven't even been able to answer the simple question, Where are you now? or Where do you live? When we try to explain audition rotations, the match and residency everyone just looks at us like, HUH? So here goes my attempt at a simple explanation that will probably turn complicated.

As most of you who have followed this blog know we spent our first two years of Medical School in Des Moines Iowa where Brad attended DMU for the didactic part of school. The third and fourth year of school are Clinical years spent with doctors in different specialties. He changes the doctor and specialty he is working in every 4 weeks. We did our third year in Casper WY and the fourth year that we are currently in is when everything got complicated.

Brad has spent the last 6 months doing his clinical rotations in places that we are interested in doing residency. He has decided he wants to be and Emergency Medicine doctor which means residency is 4 years. Most people have quite a list of places they apply to but Brad took the untraditional route and narrowed things down before hand. He only applied to 6 residencies he rotated and interviewed at all but one of those. He got a pretty good feel for the programs that he will potentially end up in.

I was able to visit all of our potential locations as well. So I get to have my own opinion of each area and I was very pleased with all of our options. Honestly I don't think we can go wrong. Which makes the next part of this process that much more difficult.

The Match...We had to rank the programs Brad applied and interviewed at and those programs will do the same thing. And the system MATCHES everyone trying to give them their top choices. Our ranks were due on January 27 and now is the waiting game. On February 13 we find out where we match. And if we don't match, then we scramble...meaning we look for programs that didn't fill and go from there.

So let the countdown begin until we find out our fate. I have a feeling this is going to be a long 2 weeks.

This is kind of how we feel about our future right now.

As for all of my 365 pictures. I'm way behind so I'll try and get them posted this week.

10 JAN 2012 | Day TEN

For three years we have lived 2-4 hours from a temple. Sad to say as a result we haven't gone nearly enough.  We really wanted to go this month but Logan was closed so we took a little day trip to Idaho Falls.

9 JAN 2012 | Day NINE

It's a good thing Brad plans on being an Emergency Medicine Doctor.  Hopefully that means we'll get a discount in the ER. I have a feeling we will be visiting frequently. Maven decided that jumping off the couch is FUN TO DO.

8 JAN 2012 | Day EIGHT

Maven can't decide if he likes taking baths. One day we can't pry him out and the next he can't get out of there fast enough.  After sitting in the Hot Tub we wanted to rinse him off so he wouldn't get a rash from the chlorine so we used the removable shower head and he thought that was hilarious.
